  • A Kiss To Build A Dream On | Marie and Javan's Sports Theme Wedding

It all began with a kiss to build a dream on for Marie and Javan. Well actually it begin earlier at the Duquesne University Chapel when Marie and Javan did in fact first kiss to build a lifetime of dreams upon with a one o'clock ceremony.

There was a four o'clock sports theme reception following the wedding nuptials at the 12 Oaks Mansion in Mars PA. As guests enjoyed themselves with some light refreshments our happy couple and their bridal party were off getting pictures on yet another beautiful day. The venue sits upon a hill with a gorgeous view of lovely green grass, trees and flowers. There is even a gazebo very conducive for some romantic photos.

It was a full Pittsburgh sports theme wedding with a Stanley Cup gift card box, Steeler place cards and Penguin sports cards as bridal table decorations. The wedding theme didn't stop there as there was even a hockey / baseball grooms cake for Javan.

When the full bridal party was finished with pictures guests were moved into the main hall while Marie's gown was bustled. Once the bridal party was refreshed all lined up along the wooden spiral staircase for a quick picture before their grand entrance.

The excited bridal party danced their way in while the Pittsburgh Penguins "Boy's Of Winter" theme played in the background for their formal introductions. Javan and Marie chose a more classic rock sound with AC/DC's "Shoot To Thrill" bringing everyone to their feet with loud applause.

With matching blue up lighting around the room our newlyweds enjoyed their first dance to Dave Matthews "You and Me". The music segued into "Better Together" by Jack Johnson as the cutting of the cake followed. Personalized bobble heads of these two adorned the top of the 3 tier cake with striking resemblance.

Following toasts and blessing there was a 5:30 sit down dinner served with something a little different for background music.

Big fans of the movie screen, Marie and Javan chose to have popular movie soundtracks played. With a wide variety of songs played it became a contest between our newlyweds vs. the bridal party and families. Who could guess first the movie of the soundtrack being played?

Giving them something easy at first we played the opening tune from West Side Story. Do you recall the finger snapping and whistling used as the movie begins? Quickly we moved into action packed, sic-fi even western tunes. Marie's father instantly guessed the "Bridge On The River Kwai" hit as it is one of his personal favorites.

The "Good, Bad and the Ugly" featuring Clint Eastwood was another and we just couldn't resist the iconic low end two note sounds from "Jaws" as the entree's were served.

Probably the most exciting movie sound track was the "Close Encounters Of A Third Kind" as the up lighting fixtures behind the bridal head table began to change color with the music, just like it had appeared in the movie. As the music intensified so did the rate of color change upon the walls. It was just like being at the movies.

Following a wonderful meal a father daughter dance was held. Marie's father surprised her with Van Morrison's famous "Brown Eyed Girl" for this touching formality. Not to be out done Javan's mother too surprised him with the song selection of "20 Years Late" by Aaron Lines.

Just prior to guests being welcomed to the dance floor to celebrate the couples marriage Javan danced briefly with his great aunt. A wide variety of music was played satisfying everyone's likes including a soul train to "Summer Nights" by Olivia Newton John and John Travolta. Cupid Shuffle, "Marry You" by Bruno Mars and "New York New York" by Frank Sinatra had guests and bridal party singing their hearts out on the large dance floor.

An upbeat bridal dance was held having shots for the guests with assistance from Matron of Honor Sarah and Best man Justin. The evening quickly came to a close but not before a few group photos of all the Duquesne graduates over the years. It was such a touching tribute to the alumni.

The newlyweds celebrated exchanging their vows with a honeymoon in Las Vegas. It was a great way to top off a fantastic day of wedded bliss. We wish absolutely nothing less that a fun filed healthy new life together for these two people.
